The trees speak of my ancestors as long lost friends.
The stones tell me of creatures I have never seen.
The river whispers of a land far away and the people who live there.
The wind echos riddles in my ear, dashing off before I can ask more.
The animals converse about the cycle of life and death.
The universe has many things to teach me, I sit and listen.
I learn of myself along the way.

In todays hectic lifestyle, it might seem out of place for someone to speak to their environment and expect answers. Yet this is exactly what I do. Perhaps I could be written off as an eccentric or simply as a nut, but I am well grounded in reality. I don't go around "speaking to trees" in my daily life, I do this when I need answers to important questions in my life.
My personal view is that when I seek answers from outside, the spirits notice that I am very concerned about the situation and are honored that I have come to them for insight. By respecting their knowledge and power I show to them that I am ready and willing to accept their views. It could be argued that all I do when I speak to the trees and stones is get answers from my own sub-conscious, this may be true. Whether the answers come from spirits or from my own mind matters not, only the outcome is important.
