All the zoos

The internet scene is quite new to me; however, life as a zoo is not. For the sake of argument I will readily confess that I know very little about the online zoo community. What little I do know is gleaned from reading other peoples web pages (which seems to represent only a small portion of the zoo community) and my E-mail correspondence with a few people.

In the past I guarded my secrets closely and spoke of my feelings to none, yet over the years I have managed to met a few zoos (and zoo-curious) IRL. Either I have been exceptionally lucky in sniffing out other zoos or there are a LOT more zoos out there than anyone would ever imagine. I think somewhere between the two lies the truth, but it's still a rather significant number.

In an effort to come up with a rough figure I turned to research. According to Kinsey1, eight percent of all adult males and 3.5 percent of females have, at some time, experimented with bestiality. By taking the figure that Kinsey researched we can figure out roughly how many zoos there are in a town with only ten thousand people (Ten thousand people doesn't even constitute a city) we come up with 575 people. If only ten percent of those people enjoyed the experience (rather conservative figure in my opinion) that still leaves 57.5 people in just one tiny town. By using the equation: population X ((.08+.035)/2) (the percentage of sexual contact with animals) X .1 (A good guess as to the number who liked the contact), on the world population I bet no zoo will ever feel alone again. That makes it roughly 174 N/Z (norms per zoo), not too bad for odds if you ask me.

So remember, with zoos being that frequent we've all met another zoo whether we were aware of it or not. Maybe the person sitting across from you at the restaurant is another zoo, maybe it's me. If it is me, I'll just smile and you'll know.
